Step 1: Preparation

Before you begin painting, proper preparation is crucial for a successful finish.

1. Clean the Furniture: Remove any dust, dirt, or grease from the furniture surface using a Frenchic Sugar Soap and water. Wipe it down thoroughly and let it dry completely.

2. Sand the Surface: If the furniture has a glossy finish, lightly sand the surface to create a more adhesive base for the paint. Use a fine-grit sandpaper (around 120-220 grit) and make sure to smooth out any imperfections or rough spots.

3. Repair Imperfections: Fill in any cracks, holes, or dents with wood filler. Sand these areas again once the filler is dry to create a smooth surface.

We have made it simple to prepare with our Frenchic Clean Start Preparation Kit!

Step 2: Painting

Now that your furniture is properly prepped, it's time to start painting

1. Choose the Right Paint: Select your desired Frenchic paint color and ensure it is well-mixed before application. Frenchic offers a variety of finishes, such as our award winning Lazy Range and our Fabulous Al Fresco Range, so choose the one that suits your preference.

2. Apply the First Coat: Use a Frenchic Brush or roller to apply the first coat of paint evenly across the furniture. Allow the paint to dry completely before applying additional coats. Depending on the color and desired coverage, you may need 2-3 coats.

3. Dry Time: Follow the recommended drying times specified on the tin. Ensure each coat is completely dry before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Finishing

The final step involves finishing touches to protect and enhance the painted surface:

1. Waxing or Top Coat Application: Depending on your preference, apply one of our beautiful waxes or a clear top coat to protect the painted surface. This step adds durability and provides a smooth finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application (Remember Our Lazy Range has an in built wax, which can be activated by lightly buffing & our Al Fresco Range needs NO top coat!)

2. Curing Time: Allow the painted and finished furniture to cure for the recommended time. Curing time ensures that the paint and finishes fully harden, providing a durable and long-lasting result. Avoid heavy use during this curing period.

3. Reattach Hardware: Once the furniture is fully cured, reattach any hardware that was removed earlier.

By following these three steps, you'll achieve a beautifully painted and finished piece of furniture using Frenchic products.
